Student Loan Information

If you have federal student loans, you do not have to make payments through September 30, 2020. Your payments will automatically stop. You can make payments if you choose to. You may want to make payments if you can, because this will reduce the total amount of your loans.

Most federal loans will have a 0% interest rate until that date as well. This means your loans will not accrue interest until September 30, 2020.

If you are making progress toward an income-driven forgiveness or public service loan forgiveness, these suspended payments count toward your loan forgiveness program.

This only applies to federal student loans. If you have private student loans or other kind of educational loans, these are not effected by the CARES Act.
